Mike Sangillo

Mike Sangillo is the driving beat behind the Sofa Kings.  One of the finest drummers in the state, Mike has been playing for 45 years (professionally for 36). He has performed with countless rock and country bands including ARB, Jimson Weed, The Sharks, Sha Na Na, Mark Miller, Showdown and Bates Motel.

Mike began giving lessons to his classmates in 1970 and as the owner of Portland Percussion, has taught for over 20 years. With students aged 6 to 60, he has an all around approach to drum set playing that includes limb independence, theory, technique and musicality. Want to learn drumming?  Talk to Mike!
